We have gained a reputation across Australasia as being one of New Zealand’s premier engineering companies. We have a fixed term project in Lyttleton, Canterbury and require an H&S Officer to join our team. The person we are seeking will be an experienced Health and Safety professional with a motivational drive for safety in the workplace. We are looking for someone with the ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels of the business. The successful candidate will ensure the safety of staff is treated with the highest importance, ensure work activities are conducted in accordance with HSE policies, procedures and expectations, as well as promote a ‘Proactive’ health, safety and environmental culture. You’ll also be required to carry out proactive audits, inspections and observations to monitor H&S performance and effectiveness of existing hazard controls. ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Ability to carry out incident investigations
  • In depth knowledge of NZ Health and Safety At Work Act 2015
  • Previous experience and understanding of safety management systems
  • Practical knowledge of New Zealand Health and Safety legislative requirements
  • Strong background in Hazard Identification, Task Analysis and Risk Management
  • Understanding of Environmental Management
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised, use initiative and make sound decisions
  • Ability to positively influence staff /clients and contractors at all levels
  • Ability to respond to a dynamic work environment
  • Current NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Suite of products
  • Self-motivated, reliable and focused
  • Ability to relate to a wide range of people from all backgrounds in a professional manner

A vacancy exists in Mount Maunganui for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead and supervise our Engineering and Draughting Team. The successful applicant will have:
  • A degree in mechanical engineering and be registered (or gain registration) with IPENZ as a professional engineer
  • Experience with materials handling product design
  • Be fully conversant with the MS Office suite of products
  • CAD drawing and modelling skills with FEA experience
  • Full understanding of applicable codes and standards
  • Be decisive and able to perform under pressure within tight time constraints
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to work as a team
  • Able to train and mentor others
  • Current NZ Class 1 drivers licence
  • Knowledge of the HSAW Act is desirable
